Shelter support

Our shelter homes are staffed by experienced and compassionate professionals who are dedicated to helping migrant workers rebuild their lives. We understand that staying in a shelter home can be a difficult decision, but we want to assure migrant workers that they are not alone. We are here to help them through this difficult time and to support them as they work towards a better future.

 

Psycho-social counselling

Majority of the returnees were found with physical sickness and economic instability that exacerbated their mental wellbeing. Wage theft, workings for longer hours of time in the destination country, sleeplessness, couple with other deprivations, all have led to stress, anxiety and depression.

After proper assessment and pay heed to their problems, the counsellors help them with proper condolence. In the follow-up counselling support, participants reported about improved mental wellbeing than previous state.

Legal assistance

OKUP provides legal assistance to migrant workers to help them protect their rights and interests. Our legal services cover a wide range of issues, including:

  • Employment contracts: We help migrant workers understand and negotiate their employment contracts to ensure that their rights are protected. We also review and draft employment contracts on behalf of migrant workers.
  • Wage disputes: We represent migrant workers in disputes over wages, including unpaid wages, overtime pay, and minimum wage violations.
  • Discrimination: We help migrant workers who have been discriminated against in the workplace on the basis of their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, nationality, or disability.
  • Abuse and exploitation: We represent migrant workers who have been abused or exploited in the workplace, including victims of human trafficking and labor trafficking.

Airport Pickup

OKUP provides airport pickup services to migrant workers who are returning to Bangladesh. We offer a safe and reliable way for migrant workers to get home from the airport. 

  • Avoid being lost or disoriented.
  • Avoid being exploited by traffickers and other unscrupulous individuals.
  • Connect with their families and friends.
